Dear Frontier traveller,
If you ain’t consulted past guides, you won’t know about the beasties that’re out here looking for a meal.
And that’s okay…so long as you don’t mind being said meal.
But if you’re hopin’ to stay in one piece, then you’ll want to be reading this real close.
Because if you find yourself in these areas, hire a Quester.
Otherwise, you might not be so lucky.
Kelpie
Kelpies are found throughout The Frontier.
A shapeshifting horse water spirit, a kelpie is known to tempt travellers to ride on its back and then drag people down to a watery grave. Or they might just devour you on the spot.
Take care a rivers, bogs and marshes.
Barghest
Bigger than wolves and twice as mean. Roam in packs through places like Robuck Province and other wild areas. Active at night.
Piasa
Common in mountainous regions like Lera Province.
Intelligent and cunning, Piasa are highly sociable creatures that mate for life and live at high altitudes in small communities. They are apex predators of their domain and though humans aren’t their primary prey they won’t hesitate to attack out of desperation or if they feel threatened.
Mountain folk both fear and revere Piasa for their power, strength and hunting instincts.
Cordovile
The cordovile is a crocodile-like sea monster that hunts whales and other types of large water creatures.
A voracious eater with multiple mouths, it has been known to capsize ships and is feared in Frithland Province.
Myling
Mylings are the spirits of unwanted children who have experienced violent deaths and have not had the necessary funeral rites applied. They appear as ghostly figures or corpses that wander the night, crying out.
Depending on the circumstances some mylings can be vicious and jump onto the backs of wanders, demanding to be buried in godly soil.
Mylings become heavier and heavier in this state and if the person carrying them is unable to bury them in time, the creature will kill the person in rage.
